Dramaha Poker: Omaha Meets 2-7 Draw
October 2026 · 7 min read
Dramaha is one of the most creative split-pot variants in modern mixed-game poker. It combines Omaha Hi with 2-7 Triple Draw (or Single Draw) in the same hand — half the pot goes to the best Omaha high hand using the board, and the other half goes to the best 2-7 lowball draw hand from your hole cards alone. Dramaha is part of the PSOP schedule on Phenom Poker and is increasingly popular in major mixed-game events.
How Dramaha Works
Each player is dealt five hole cards (like Omaha, not four — the extra card helps the draw component). The hand plays on a community board like Omaha, but with an additional draw phase. Here's the flow:
- Each player receives five hole cards
- A draw round occurs before or after the flop (varies by format)
- The hand continues with standard betting rounds (flop, turn, river)
- At showdown, the pot splits:
- Omaha half: Best five-card hand using exactly two hole cards and three board cards (standard Omaha rules)
- 2-7 half: Best five-card 2-7 lowball hand using any five of your hole cards (no board; 2-3-4-5-7 offsuit is the nut)
2-7 Lowball Rankings (Quick Reference)
In 2-7 lowball, aces are high, and straights and flushes count against you. The nuts is 2-3-4-5-7 (unsuited). Second nuts is 2-3-4-6-7. You want low, unpaired cards with no flush potential.
Dramaha Strategy
Scoop-Potential Hands Dominate
The best Dramaha starting hands have both Omaha drawing potential (connected, suited cards for nut flushes and straights) AND strong 2-7 cards (2, 3, 4, 5, 7 of mixed suits). Finding hands that can scoop requires balancing two completely different hand-building logics simultaneously.
Know Which Half to Play For
Sometimes you'll have a strong Omaha holding but a terrible 2-7 hand, or vice versa. Correctly identifying which half you're realistically competing for — and how to play against opponents who might scoop — is critical. Don't get stuck in no man's land trying to win a half you have no realistic shot at.
Drawing in Dramaha
In the draw phase, you're improving your 2-7 hand. If you're already strong in 2-7 (e.g., 2-3-4-5-7), standing pat (drawing zero) maximizes your equity in that half. If you're drawing for Omaha only, the draw phase is less impactful — focus on finding the right cards for the board texture you expect to see.
Aggression with Scoop Hands
When you have realistic scoop potential, push hard — bet and raise to build the pot and apply pressure on opponents who can only win one half. In fixed-limit Dramaha, the math of scooping vs. getting quartered makes aggression with two-way hands highly profitable.
Where to Play Dramaha
Dramaha is only spread on a handful of platforms globally. Phenom Poker includes Dramaha in the PSOP alongside other creative variants like Dramadugi and PLO Fusion. If you want to play Dramaha online with real action, Phenom is your best option.
